Chain conveyor & Scraper chain conveyor
Enmasse chain conveyors convey materials by making them flow in a heap through an enclosed chamber. The flights welded to the chain occupies only a small portion of the cross-sectional area of moving material. Most materials like sinter dust, iron ore, dolomite, lime, soda ash, cement etc will move with the moving chain and flight. The advantages of Enmasse conveyor are:
- Totally dust proof
- Capacity can be variable
- Layout in horizontal and inclined plate.
These conveyors are basically suitable for powdery and granular materials and cannot handle large lumps or convey over long distances like belt conveyors.
Scraper Conveyors are generally used in soda ash recovery ESP in Paper mills. In such installations long scraper bars bolted to 2-chains at 2-ends are pulled over the ESP floor which can be as wide as 8 m.
Two long shafts are mounted on external bearings at 2-ends of the ESP chamber which is usually of RCC construction. On each shaft 2-sprockets are mounted on which the conveyor chain runs. The bottom run of chain moves over steel liners fixed to floors whereas the top run is supported on 2-guides that are supported on brackets from ESP wall. These conveyors are always horizontal, silent in operation and dust proof. Scraper conveyors described above are typically used in flat bottom ESPs in chemical Recovery plant of Paper Mills.
