Pugmills

These are paddle type mixers for handling powder materials along with water addition.

Pugmills are used as secondary pollution control equipment where the collected dust is to be conveyed and discharged with water addition. For capacity upto 20-30 TPH single screw Pugmill is recommended. For larger capacity twin screw Pugmills are preferred.

Pugmills differ with screw conveyors in the following manner:

The mixing element is one or two shafts with paddles bolted on it in a spiral form.
RPM of paddle is high as the purpose is mixing and conveying.
Water spraying system is provided to achieve the desired moisture in the dust.
In Twin screw Pugmill, the flights overlap so that no portion of material remain unmixed.
The equipment along with all accessories is mounted on a common base frame.

Twin Screw Mixer

Twin Screw mixers are used for solid-solid mixing. These are very much similar to Pugmill except that no water spraying system is required.
